ICONIC: Mixed Media Heads with Big Personality

In this one-of-a-kind workshop, young artists will design and build their own bold, expressive character sculpture using a life-sized styrofoam head as their canvas.

From start to finish, they’ll transform a simple form into a showstopping 3D artwork that reflects their unique imagination and personality.

Using layered materials like tissue paper, patterned napkins, and Mod Podge, artists will build texture and depth. They can paint using vibrant techniques like stamping, stenciling, and custom brushwork before diving into fiber arts to create wild hairstyles, headwear, and accessories. Pom-poms, beads, felt, and fabric all come into play as each artist sculpts and styles their “ICON” from head to… head!
