At artSPARK Creative Studio, our Drawing + Painting courses are designed to nurture creative thinking, build confidence, and develop artistic skill at every stage of childhood and adolescence. Whether your child is just beginning to explore materials or is ready to deep their technique, our process-based approach adapts to their developmental needs while honoring their individuality.

Grades 1 - 4: Exploration + Imagination

Young artists in early elementary grades thrive when given space to explore, invent, and build foundational skills without pressure.

In these courses, students will:

• Experiment with a variety of tools and materials (graphite, pastel, watercolor, marker, ink, collage)

• Develop basic drawing and painting techniques

• Learn to slow down, observe closely, and share their ideas visually

• Build confidence through process, not perfection

Creative Focus: Playful prompts, observational drawing, color exploration, and storytelling through art.

Grades 5 - 8: Purpose + Process

Upper elementary and middle school students benefit from more intentional exploration. Our 5th - 8th grade Drawing + Painting class bridges personal expression and skill-building.

In these courses, students will:

• Explore concept-driven projects that encourage reflection and goal setting

• Use advanced materials like alcohol markers, gouache, and mixed media

• Receive light instruction while retaining autonomy in project direction

• Develop critique and revision habits that support growth and persistence

Creative Focus: Mood + message, artistic voice, layering, and design thinking.

Teens: Skill + Self-Expression

Teen artists often arrive with their own goals; whether it's building a portfolio, relaxing after a busy day, or developing a personal style. We meet them where they are with support, mentorship, and flexibility.

In these courses, students will:

• Focus on their own artistic interests with optional prompts and media demos

• Practice advanced drawing and painting techniques

• Receive 1:1 feedback and support when needed

• Build a community with other teens who love to make
